For the most part, being in England is a lot like being back home with one exception: everything is older. I would say that there is a pretty strong sense of detachment from all things home, but hopefully that will pass with time. I will say that in just a few short days I’ve managed to alienate one of the few pizza delivery places in the city – a pretty easy feat considering I did nothing except not know my British phone number. It all ended with me begging for pizza – “please sir, can I have some more?” – right before he hung up on me for not being able to supply an adiquate telephone number. I’ve never begged for food…That was a hard day to cope with, but only due to exhaustion. I’m sure my attitude would have been different had I more sleep and not missed lunch and dinner as they were served at the school.
Today was a trip to, wait, let me misspell it – Blenheim Palace. It was a pretty amazing place and they had a really extensive Churchill collection on display. I saw the man’s baby curls – crazy. After touring around the place I got lost on the grounds wondering around the lake and nearby gardens which were stunning unto themselves.
School is going a lot better than I thought it would. My instructors are extremely knowledgeable and the courses aren’t as troublesome as I had originally thought.
I’m keeping these posts short because there is going to be some many in the coming weeks.
There is a lot more video (over thirty minutes recorded today) that I’ll be uploading as soon as I edit them all together so check back as often as you think of it.
